Managing Director
Bernard is one of the founding members of SKY Construction with a 50% shareholding. Bernard has a National Diploma in Building Science from the University of Technology, Free State and is a SACPCMP registered Construction Manager. Certification
Bernard started his construction career in 2001 as a site agent while he was studying to become SKY Constructions’ Managing Director. He has completed numerous projects with a value ranging from 350K to R32milj and is currently constructing the R48milj Heimat Phase 2 Building.
His knowledge has developed from all these different projects and various environments which give him the wide bases and background knowledge on which he has built SKY Construction.
His hands-on experience and good management style make him a natural leader whom operational staff and fellow team members find easy to follow.
He runs the operational side of the company and is actively involved and responsible right from the estimate phase through to the final completion phase in all projects. Bernard has ensured, to date, that all completed projects with a total value over R23.7milj have been completed on time, with excellent quality and within – budget and will continue to do so for all future projects.
Jean-Pierre Hefer
Financial Director
JP is the other founding member of SKY Construction with a 50% shareholding. JP has a B. Com Accounting (Hons) from the University of the Free State.
JP started his career in 2003 as an article clerk, he then worked at a construction company where he took full responsibility for the accounting department. He excelled in his role and responsibilities and in the third year he became a 20% shareholder of the company and was promoted to Financial Director. His responsibilities expanded to HR, OHS, Commercial and Contractual issues, dealing with suppliers, staff matters and clients.
He has brought this broad-based experience and knowledge with him to SKY Construction which ensures that the administrative and commercial side of the company are well looked after.
JP gives the operational side of SKY Construction the necessary edge to ensure operations are run on the most cost-effective basis with the best decision-making, capitalisation and cash flow. He is the ideal support for construction production with more than ten years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
Other Team Members
Our operational personnel have a well-developed structure which includes two qualified quantity surveyors, two qualified contract managers and experienced site agents and foremen who are supported by well-trained tradesmen and charge-hands.
Monique Leeuwner
Monique is the Human Resources Manager and Quantity Surveyor at SKY Construction, based in Bloemfontein. She has over 5 years of experience in the Construction Industry with a BSc Quantity Surveyor Honours degree.
Carla Jacobs
Carla Jacobs is based at the Head Office in Bloemfontein, as Sky Construction’s Accountant. She studied B.Acc at the University of Free State with over 3 years’ experience.
Stefan van Zyl
Stefan, the Project Manager, has over 12 years of experience in the Construction Industry with a National Diploma in Civil Engineering, as well as a BSc Quantity Surveyor Honours degree.
JP du Preez
JP, the Head Buyer, has over 20 years of experience in the Construction Industry, with more than 20 courses completed in Construction Materials.
